In the 1940’s and 50’s, mellow jazz musicians on the West Coast developed a softer, relaxed alternative to swing and bebop that came to be known as the “Cool Jazz” style. Grab a cocktail and chill with the Lakeside Pride, Jazz Ensemble, Strayhorns combo, and Wilde Cabaret singers, enjoying laid-back, ‘cool’ classics stirred up with contemporary arrangements in the same vein

Northwestern's Chamber Opera Initiative is a new student organization dedicated to performing lesser-known works through student-run productions. We aim to inspire a sense of entrepreneurial innovation in young opera singers and we have chosen the Baroque opera seria masterpiece Ariodante as our first project.

A musical exploration of the meaning of memory by Bang on a Can composers Michael Gordon, David Lang, and Julia Wolfe, this work for voices, electric guitar, baroque orchestra, and keyboards is described by librettist Deborah Artman as ::
“a prayer hall, a hymn, but also an invention; in the tenuous and hurried climate of the times we live in now, Lost Objects asks us to pause and consider the grace bestowed upon each thing, person, animal and idea, the ordinary and the not-so-ordinary lost objects of our shared and vanishing culture.”
