First Year Studio: Yale Seed Vault Proposal
The following proposal involves a series of three studies, applying a formal operation to the scale of an object, landscape, and building complex, in the proposal of a facility for the storage and study of seeds. Constructed entirely out of alternating thin steel profiles joined at points of intersection, the resulting forms blur the lines between interiority and exteriority, creating a dense structural lattice to support plant growth.
1500sQf Vault Study
Complete with a circumferencing ramp, interior core shelves, and an integrated study loft, the following model explores the concept of a lattice as a means for both structure and shade
10,000sQf Landscape Study
Proposal of a programmed landscape for planting, using the concept of plant growth over an alternating lattice structure to create shaded areas for recreation, meetings, and study
15,000SQF RESEARCH FACILITY
Proposal of a combined landscape and seed vault research facility, positioned adjacent to Klein Biology Tower
